8 High-Impact Ways To Style Up Your Bathroom
In their new book, Dream Home How-To, the team from Three Birds Renovations offers a swathe of suggestions for ways to update your interiors. Here are nine tips for making your bathroom a thing of beauty.
Bring on the bling! | Gold taps and sconces act like jewellery in this bathroom.
Black + black | A black sink + black vanity is a strong combo. In this feminine room, it anchors the space – making it feel balanced and modern.
A loo with a view | We know, we know! Putting a feature window next to a toilet is a big call, but hear us out: that window creates architectural interest and floods the room with natural light, making it feel so much bigger. And installing a motorised awning on the other side of this window means that privacy is at your fingertips. At the push of a button – ‘Hey presto!’ – you can see out, but no one can see in. The only blushes here are on the tiles.
Hot tip | If you’re going with a bold floor tile, then let it be the diva it was born to be by using neutral tiles – like these pink and cream diamonds – on the other surfaces.
Encaustic-look floor tiles | We had our eye on these tiles for a while, so we had to use them in this house. They LOOK like olde-worlde encaustic tiles, but they are actually porcelain. True encaustic tiles have been around for centuries – they’re those gorgeous, patterned clay tiles you find in old European buildings. The beauty of modern porcelain tiles is that they are cheaper and more durable than encaustic ones, meaning that you can achieve this amazing look for less. Plus, when you touch them, they have a lightly textured surface, so they feel really nice underfoot. That’s a winner for us – especially in bathrooms.
White works! | White grout helps this herringbone pattern pop. And white towels will always be #classic.
Herringbone dreams | From graphic herringbone tile patterns to bold black accents, we pushed the envelope in every direction in this bathroom. The result is luxury that makes a real statement.
Top heavy treatment | A shaving cabinet with generous storage is an easy way to balance out a bare-as-bones vanity. Everyone gets their own shelf – problem solved!
