Honesty Tonic’s content creators will report and interpret honestly, striving for accuracy and fairness and disclosing all relevant facts.

Impartiality The Tonic team will not allow personal interest or any belief or commitment to undermine our accuracy, fairness or independence.

Respect The Tonic team respects our readers, our interviewees and all those who work with us. We will use fair, honest and responsible means to obtain material. We will identify ourselves and the masthead before obtaining interviews or images, and treat all interviewees fairly.

Independence The Tonic team will not allow advertising or other commercial considerations to undermine our accuracy, fairness or independence. Advertorials or sponsored content will be marked as such.

Accuracy and fact checking Content creators are responsible for checking the accuracy of statements and names.

Corrections Material errors will be corrected or clarified publicly as soon as practicable. Complaints shall be dealt with promptly and respectfully.

Relevance Where it is not relevant to the article, content creators will not place unnecessary emphasis on personal characteristics, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, age, sexual orientation, family relationships, religious belief or physical disability.

Plagiarism The Tonic team does not plagiarise.

Quotes Quotes are occasionally edited for accuracy and syntax.

Photos Photos are occasionally edited to create colour consistency or increase visual impact. Artists often create illustrations using photographic elements and these are clearly labelled photo-illustrations.

Use of masthead & logo No-one other than the Tonic team may use the logo in any way, including in their email signature or in other communications, fundraising, advertising or with external parties, except with specific written legal agreement.
