“How I Get My Skin Glowing”
Mary Zavaglia knows about beauty. For more than three decades she has worked in the industry, as a beauty editor, spa consultant and with her website. Now in her 50s, she has tried almost every technique going and in our video she gives her verdict on what has and hasn’t worked for her, from simple steam cleans to salon treatments, jade rollers to eye creams.
Here is a round-up of some of the techniques she discusses*:
Micro-Needling
(Also known as collagen induction therapy, derma-rolling or skin needling.)
What is it? A cosmetic procedure that uses a derma-roller to repeatedly puncture the skin with tiny, sterile needles. What does it do? Adds volume to skin by kick-starting collagen production and is often used to treat scars, wrinkles and large pores.
Mary says: “This diminishes fine lines and labial folds (the lines on either side of your mouth).”
Thermage FLX
What is it? A non-surgical facelift and skin-tightening procedure using non-invasive radio frequency therapy. It only requires one treatment. What does it do? Smooths, tightens and contours skin.
Mary says: “It’s the gold standard.”
Clear and Brilliant
(Also known as the Red Carpet facial)
What is it? A gentle laser resurfacing treatment. The laser energy creates millions of microscopic treatment zones in the upper layers of the skin. What does it do? Rejuvenates skin by replacing damaged skin with healthy, younger looking tissue, addressing early signs of facial ageing, sun damage, tone, texture. It can also minimise pore size.
Mary says: “It helps with pigmentation and homogenises the skin so it’s glowing and dewy.”
