Tonic Doctor: Tackling Menopause Naturally
Are there any natural remedies for hot flushes that actually work?
Yasmeen, Launceston, Tas
There are lots of complementary and alternative medicine products available but very few gold-standard scientific studies that prove natural remedies are effective in treating menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats and vaginal changes. Some women find herbal remedies such as black cohosh and red clover help them manage menopausal symptoms, while herbs such as St John’s wort may help with mood changes, anxious thoughts and feelings of depression. Before trying any treatment talk to a qualified practitioner and always let all of the health professionals you’re seeing know about any medications you’re taking or treatments you’re receiving.
