Zara Beauty: Tonic’s Verdict
There’s a lot to love about the arrival of Zara Beauty, a futuristic-looking range for lips, eyes, face and nails. First up, it has high-end attributes without the hefty price tag (nothing is over $35.95). And, oh, the packaging! It’s all glossy white with elegant curves, sharp, sleek lines and arresting angles (the lipsticks and the nail polish bottles are slanted to mimic a “Z”). Plus, they feel weighty so you immediately think “quality”. The best bit? Magnetic closure on lipsticks, something usually only enjoyed with luxe designer brands.
But it’s the clean formulas and the nod to sustainability – most items are refillable – that have received the best response, especially given the purse-friendly pricing.
While there is plenty of eye-popping colour, the inclusion of more wearable shades confirms that its creative director, celebrated UK make-up artist Diane Kendal, has achieved her aim of designing a range “that everyone wants to use regardless of skin colour, gender, age or personal style”.
